L'Automne (The Fall)
Bury your soul in my skin
and begin to wander
the streets of my heart.
Tiny old pathways,
well-trodden by the seasons
lined with bridges
filled with pocket spaces
hiding gems -
waiting for you.
Throw your map
you will not need it.
Follow the Seine
the water knows
where to go
Look me in the eye,
trace the corners of my mouth
Take your time
to get to know me.
Let the leaves fall slowly as they may
welcome the inevitable
In the evening, when you are ready
return to me naked
warm, dark, sweet
as the wine in your belly
By then, do not hesitate
go in for the kiss,
Fill me in with your desire
and find me better than your dreams.
